Two questions from a sound point of view:

Is Mono = Stereo when both channels have the same output?
Is Mono = Stereo in Mono mode with one speaker turned off?

I own the Beatles box set in stereo, it was a gift. The remastered versions were done from the mono master, so the do sound good. I would have purchased the mono myself if it was not a gift. Mono is like a sonic kick in the teeth compared to stereo.
